Anticipation

Well, only a few more days until my new fence is installed! We have moved past the planning stages, all of the fence posts have been dug, and the fence posts have been installed using concrete with rebar drilled into the rock. My fence is being installed by Joe of Friendly Cedar Fencing. He is busy building my gates from cedar siding left over from my house. The fencing is made from old growth cedar from near Whistler. Joe used to live on Gabriola, but is now on Salt Spring Island, so he has to take two ferries to get here.

Once the fence is up, I will be able to plant the flowers I bought at Dinters Nursery recently. I also plan on building two raised beds for my vegetable garden, and will be planting garlic soon. 

As beautiful as they are, the many deer here make gardening in areas that aren’t fenced in extremely challenging.
